On Thursday 19th March, around thirty people gathered at the Cultural Centre for our Annual General Meeting. It was a warm and friendly occasion, even though some of our loyal members were unable to attend. The membership drive launched in January has borne fruit, with new members signing up during the meeting. However, the association has not yet, as of today, reached last year’s membership figures.
If you wish to join or renew your membership, you can still do so via this website – under the ‘The Association’ tab.
The board of directors’ hard work and creativity were praised and warmly applauded. Two new members were elected, completing the board.
The outlook for 2026 looks just as promising. New for 2026 is the association’s involvement in the Escales events in Port-Vendres on 18th and 19th April, featuring two guided walks led by a reincarnated Mackintosh recounting his Port-Vendres of 1927 along the quays.
These events will kick off the association’s cultural season. Two highlights will follow: Mackintosh’s anniversary week, featuring two lectures by Clara Silber and an Art Deco outing to Perpignan. This is followed by, in September, Heritage Week with the launch of the ‘Baludik Art Deco Port-Vendres’ in partnership with the Tourist Office, a lecture by an expert from the CRM Society of Glasgow on the ‘Glasgow Girls’ and a trip to Montpellier to the Collège des Ecossais.
As usual, the association’s website will cover these events. The 2026 challenge is on!
