On Monday 2nd February, around fifteen European Studies pupils from the school discovered Charles Rennie Mackintosh with their English and documentation teachers. This is the second time the association has joined forces with the Collège de la Côte Vermeille. The first was in 2024.
Thanks to Jacques Raupp, they were able to learn about the technique of watercolour painting. They also learned how Mackintosh, with his artistic choices and his talent for using the watercolour technique, was part of the tradition of the great watercolourists of the early 20th century.
hey then explored the interpretation centre. Linda Cadwallader spoke to them in English about some aspects of his life and that of his wife Margaret, particularly during their stay in Roussillon. Finally, they were able to discover some Roussillon watercolours through a quiz. At the end of the session, each pupil received a book about the artist.
The association hopes that this first encounter will have sparked a lasting interest in some of them.
For those who are curious and interested, our centre in Port-Vendres will reopen on Friday 13th February at 2.30 pm and the one in Palalda on Tuesday 10th February at 2 pm.
