Margaret Macdonald visits Céret

Margaret Macdonald visits Céret

Friday 27th March

at 5 pm

at the Céret Mediatheque

Clara SILBER

will give a talk on

‘Margaret Macdonald,

the overshadowed artist’.

An informative yet intimate exploration of this multi-talented Scottish artist: watercolour, gesso, oil, repoussé metal, embroidery…

As the wife of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, she was her husband’s inspired collaborator whilst accepting to live in his shadow. Sidelined by the leading figures of art history from the 1930s onwards, following her death, she has remained largely unknown to the public. To date, no biography or book has been devoted entirely to her, either in English or, even more so, in French.

This presentation is therefore a unique opportunity to begin discovering her, thanks to the talent of Clara Silber, who has become her devoted admirer and the voice of Margaret within our association – and, we hope, more widely very soon.
