A talk on stained glass history and techniques by Jacqueline and Bruno TOSI: What a talent!

Jacqueline and Bruno Tosi are experts in the art of stained glass and have earned their stripes as restorers of stained glass windows for the Monuments de France. The conference they gave was entitled “Stained glass: symbols and lights of colour”. And it was indeed a journey through not only the techniques of stained glass but also the themes and colours of stained glass. Bruno captivated the large audience. Stained glass windows throughout the ages have proved to be an almost universal means of expression and have always been full of symbols and teachings. Our speaker has become an expert in reading them and was able to share with us some of the keys to looking at and appreciating stained glass in a different way.

He is the author of several books which he signed at the end of the conference: “Le vitrail : Techniques et crĂ©ation” – “Les trois grandes lumières : la règle, l’Ă©querre et le compas” – “Le vitrail, couleurs symboles et techniques” – “Les Lumières du vitrail : ” Les anges “” MaĂ®tres-verriers et alchimistes: De l’alchimie du verre et du verre alchimique” to name but a few…

At the same time, Jacqueline presented the fruit of her research to the members of the board of directors who were there that day. This project is already well underway: to decorate the centre of Port-Vendres with stained glass windows in the style of Mackintosh. They were seduced by her sketch, drawing and glass samples and our association will be proud of this very luminous addition – as soon as its finances can allow the investment.

What a talent!
