This conference launches the 2023 cultural programme of our association. These few lines to present it and arouse your curiosity. We are waiting for you!

Isabelle Cases, a member of our board of directors, is a lecturer in English at the University of Perpignan. She is a specialist in Victorian architecture and is very keen on the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald.

Isabelle will introduce us to the legacy of the Arts and Crafts movement launched by William Morris during the Victorian period. A multi-faceted artist and committed writer, Morris developed a vision of the modern world often based on representations of the past.

She will analyse the influence of Morris on the Glasgow School and the Mackintoshes in particular, in an attempt to show how artistic modernism is inspired by and diverges from the Arts and Crafts movement.
