Due to medical reasons (nothing to do with the COVID-19), several members were unable to join us on the morning of departure. However, 10 people headed to Amélie-Les-Bains Palalda last Thursday, March 10th.
The discovery of our interpretation Centre was greatly appreciated by all: especially so in the “architecture” space dedicated to the models C R Mackintosh presented at international competitions, as well as the exhibition of fabrics created by students of the School of Arts from “Mackintosh” inspired motifs. For more than 10 years this spacious building has remained a very beautiful place to visit and the site of Palalda receives many tourists.
In the same location in the castle of Palalda, one can discover a leather workshop, an exhibition of garnets and the Museum of the post office.
Before heading to the restaurant to enjoy an excellent meal, we discovered the position on the edge of the Tech, where C R Mackintosh had painted his watercolor “Palalda”.
The afternoon was devoted to the complete visit of the 2 thermal establishments during which a guide helped us to discover all the different spaces of care free at this time of the ‘curists’ (remedial practitioners).
The day ended with the discovery, for some participants, of the Hotel du Midi, now a creamery on the ground floor, and in which C R Mackintosh had stayed when he arrived in Amelie. On the facade, a reproduction of the watercolor “Mymosa” as evidence.
