The Scottish couple Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh, came to the Pyrenees Orientales department from 1923 to 1927.
The celebrated architect, designer and painter made about 40 watercolours here, which are now found principally in Scottish museums.
The C R Mackintosh association has created 3 interpretation centres (p
Port-Vendres, Belesta and Amelie-les-Bains Palada), to promote and bring to life the picturesque works of the artist.
It has also installed 30 reproductions of the watercolours across the department, where the artist placed his easel.
But they have now suffered weathering and need to be restored. Sales image below shows a badly damaged panel and the image to the right that with which we wish to replace it.
